Two people caught up in conversation. A stranger absorbed in their phone. Someone momentarily distracted by something in the street. Everyday scenes we pass without a second thought can be full of life when you watch.

I draw those moments.

I draw directly, without an underdrawing, working things out as I go. Pen and ink gives me the immediacy I want. A few carefully judged lines can make a figure feel solid, present and alive.

It has taken years to develop a way of drawing that is both economical and precise — enough information to make people believable, without losing the spontaneity of the moment.

There’s no grand subject here. Just people, places and the everyday business of living. It’s a world we all know, but one that’s easy to overlook.

The collection will continue to grow, with more developed drawings and new work bringing figures together in different ways.
